Scan to BIM

Resolve conflicts before they happen.

When to Use Scan to BIM Services

It is best to use the scan to BIM workflow when designing updates to existing structures. The BIM models can be used to reveal clashes in existing models, used as the foundation model for teams to create from, or help each discipline streamline their planning process and improve project scoping and pricing accuracy.

How Does the Scan to BIM Service Work?

Upon completing a site scan, we will take the point cloud file, create an RCP file, and bring it into Revit to create a BIM model. Then we offer you three options for the new model.

First, we can take your IFC drawings for the MEP services, incorporate them into the model and provide you with a clash detection report. Based on your feedback, we will resolve the design conflicts within your model and present you with a clash-free coordinated model.

Second, we can take existing architectural, structural, and MEP models and merge them into the newly created Revit model to reveal hard and soft clash issues. We will then provide you with a clash detection report, and based on feedback, resolve the conflicts. Then we will provide you with a clash-free model.

And finally, we can provide you with the original BIM model we create from our point cloud file to share with the A/E/C teams to collaborate and design from.

“We have been using Siteline360 (Makepeace 3D Scanning) for our existing conditions scanning. They are very reasonable and great to work with."
